Our Company

Soft-Ride, Inc. was founded over six years ago when the Ruetenik family set out to develop a better boot for therapeutic hoof care for horses – and the Soft-Ride Equine Comfort Boot was born.

The Ruetenik family has owned and worked with horses most of their lives. Roger Ruetenik, the father, was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association Executive Committee, as well as a founding member of the All-American Quarter Horse Congress…the largest equine event in the world.

Foot and hoof ailments can be devastating to horses and the Rueteniks began working on a boot that would protect and comfort the horse during treatment and rehabilitation. The development of the Soft-Ride Equine Comfort Boot has been evolving over the past 5+ years and is now ready to be marketed nationally. A patent is pending covering the unique features of this product line. Scott and Monty oversee the development and manufacturing while Debbie manages the sales and maintains key account contacts. Roger maintains industry contacts and coordinates product development activities.

Working closely with KESMARC, the Kentucky Equine Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Center in Lexington, Kentucky, the Soft-Ride Equine Comfort Boot was field tested on many different horses. Dr. Scott Morrison of Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital started using Soft-Ride boots in the treatment of several medical conditions including laminitis, founder and abscesses. An innovative cushioned orthotic insert was perfected, stronger materials were found, and the design was refined and improved at every stage.

Today, Soft-Ride, Inc. is an established company with its headquarters in Vermilion, Ohio.
